The local police active in the shops the campaign "Security at Christmas"

The police will advise the merchants in frauds, thefts and robberies

Agents of the Local Police of Salou will visit as of today establishments of the commercial zones of the city to advise in the prevention of the delinquency, in a campaign denominated "Security in Navidad". Interviews with merchants serve at the same time to approach to be more effective in the case of having to act. This campaign aims to advise, inform and be at the side of the merchants from the area of ​​Citizen Security, and ensure the extra security needed on these dates. This initiative is based on a basic system of proximity where the direct and continuous attention, by the agents, favors an adequate framework for the commercial exercise with all the security guarantees, complemented also with the usual campaign of presence in the closing hours commercial. In parallel, the campaign seeks to improve communication and coordination between traders and police to develop more effective care in times of need.
The Councilor for Citizen Security, David Gonzalez, accompanied by the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Trade and Markets and the head of the Local Police, José Luis Gargallo, explained that "this campaign is very necessary in this Christmas season, as it increases the influx of people in stores, so security must be reinforced especially during closing hours. " González added that "with this reinforcement from the City we want to transmit to the merchants that they can always count on the Local Police". For its part, the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Trade and Markets, Martina Fourrier, wanted to emphasize that "the trade is very happy with the result of the similar campaign that took place last year at this time" and has referred to "the importance of buying approved products from local businesses".
This visit will be used to update the data of the commercial Register. In addition, the agents will deliver a sticker with emergency phone numbers to place it in a visible place and so be able to have it on hand in case of need; a calendar of the Local Police of Salou of the year 2019; and a Christmas postcard; as well as a diptych that includes a series of recommendations for the merchants that now, in these Christmas dates are remembered in order to avoid petty crimes and thefts:
  • Do not accumulate cash in cash registers and empty them often.
  •  Avoid taking large amounts of money to banks and do it gradually, without waiting for the closure of the trade.
  • Always check the security measures of euro notes.
  • Limit the access roads to the establishment to facilitate control and hinder the flight in case of theft.
  • Advert with signs that you can ask customers to show their bags, backpacks.
  • Install security chips in the products.
  • Remember that credit cards are personal and non-transferable.
  • Be rigorous when checking the cardholder's data.
  • Before any irregularity, suspicion or strange movement, do not enter into discussions and warn the Police with discretion.
