In summer, there's a dog-friendly space on Salou's Ponent beach

Salou. Costa Dorada. 08 May 2025. Salou is taking a further step toward improving its services as a pet-friendly tourism destination and offering a beach for dogs during the summer season. Until 2024, pets were only allowed on the beach in winter.

Specifically, starting June 1, Salou will offer a space for dogs on Ponent Beach, between Esperanto Street (Plaza Venus) and C Street. It will cover an area of ​​1,864 square meters. The space features specific amenities such as special showers for pets, wastebaskets, and signage to ensure a comfortable and orderly stay.

How the dog beach will operate
The area will be subject to rules and schedules and will be physically separated from the rest of the beach for users without dogs. Dogs considered dangerous breeds must wear a muzzle and be on a leash both inside and outside the water, as is the case in public spaces in general.

Regarding maintenance, the City Council guarantees daily manual cleaning of the sand in the designated dog area, as well as the surrounding area and access points. This action will complement the daily mechanical cleaning, including sifting, which will be carried out at night. In addition, regular monitoring of the sand and water quality will be conducted.

Salou City Council reminds owners of the need to keep their pets under close supervision at all times, as well as the importance of respecting the established rules to ensure a good coexistence on the beach for all users.
