The Municipal Tourism Board renews the Q certification for tourist quality

Salou. Costa Dorada. 09 November 2025. The two offices of the Salou Municipal Tourism Board have renewed this 2025, and for the third consecutive year, the "Q" certification of Tourism Quality awarded by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTES). This qualification is awarded based on the audit of the external company TÜV Rheinland Ibérica, which verifies compliance with the international quality standard UNE-ISO 14785:2015.

According to this standard, the tourist information offices of Plaça Europa and the Xalet Torremar in Salou comply with the different aspects evaluated, which are:

• accessibility
• professionalism 
• the equipment of the offices, and
• the information they provide, which is complete and reliable, and 
• guarantees customer satisfaction during your visit

Based on these key points, the standard evaluates the provision of the service, the management of in-person, telephone and digital consultations, the quality and updating of the tourist information offered, the preparation and training of staff, as well as the good management of infrastructures and communication channels.

Excellent tourist service

The achievement of the Q of tourist quality coincides with the result of the survey carried out in the months of June, July and August 2025, in which the degree of global satisfaction expressed by users by the attention received in the tourist offices of Salou is 9.22 out of 10. The respondents especially valued that: 

• waiting time to be attended was very short (73 %) 
• the treatment received was very good (70%)
• the knowledge and skills of the office staff is very good (72%) and
• the recommendation of complementary activities (58%) was positively assessed

The users attended are mostly of mature age: from 40 to 55 years old (41%), from 55 to 65 years old (21%) and over 65 years old (195%), and most (41%) come from Catalonia and the rest of Spain, while 19% come from the United Kingdom and 15% from France, data that coincide with the profile of the type visitor of Salou. 

The study also highlights the use of offices by families and the great fidelity of tourists who repeat both the destination and the information service. It should be noted that the office of the Plaza Europa opens from March to the end of October, while the office of the Xalet Torremar (located on Passeig Jaume I in Salou) opens all year round, and does information tasks to residents in relation to cultural activities, municipal events, local companies or initiatives in the territory.

More than 30,000 queries

From January to September 2025, the two offices have attended a total of 30,700 consultations, most of them face-to-face (a total of 16,124 consultations), followed by telephones (13,464), via WhatsApp (847) and by email (345).

The mayor and president of the Municipal Tourism Board of Salou, Pere Granados, said that the Q of tourist quality is a "recognition that consolidates Salou as a destination that is committed to professionalism, innovation and trust. Our Tourist Offices are the first gateway for thousands of visitors, but also a reference point for residents. This certification is the result of teamwork that places quality and excellence at the heart of our tourism model”.

According to the mayor, “Salou is today a leading destination because it takes care of all the details, from the information we offer to the experience of those who visit us”.

The Municipal Tourism Board renews the Q certification for tourist quality
