The Costa Daurada sponsors Manchester City for women

Presentation of the Manchester City women's sponsorship agreement



Salou. Costa Dorada. 08 March 2022. The Costa Daurada has reached a sponsorship agreement with the Manchester City women's football team in order to promote itself in the British market until June 2023. This agreement is part of the Joint Promotion Plan in which the Tourist Boards of the Provincial Council of Tarragona Costa Daurada, Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca, together with the Tarragona Province Hospitality and Tourism Business Federation (FEHT).

Thus, the Costa Daurada has become an Official Partner of Manchester City Women's Football Club and an Official Tourism Partner of Manchester City Women's Football Club. The act of presentation of the agreement, which has included the presentation of Danae Boronat -a journalist from Tarragona, specializing in sports broadcasts-, has been held at the Castle of Vila-seca.

As explained by Quim Cristià, vice-president of the FEHT, "it is a sponsorship for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons that includes multiple actions such as the issuance of the Joint Promotion Plan logo on the perimeter LED billboards around of the stadium during all FA Women's Super League home games and the posting of the logo in the press room during FA Women's Super League pre- and post-match interviews.” In addition, the Costa Daurada may use the club's graphic materials to carry out marketing actions and advertising campaigns, publications will also be made on the Club's social networks and content will be created jointly. Within this agreement, a draw will also be held among female Manchester City fans that will give them the opportunity to visit the Costa Dorada.

This agreement also includes Manchester City's first women's soccer team doing a stage each season on the Costa Daurada. The first is scheduled to take place from April 25 to 29 at the Futbol Salou Sports Center facilities.

In the presentation, the councilor of Salou and vice president of the Municipal Tourist Board, Hécto Maiquez, recalled Salou's firm commitment to sports tourism, both for the facilities it has, such as the Futbol Salou Sports Center, and for tourist certifications in golf, light sailing and cycling.

According to Maiquez "Salou is ready to host important competitions, at an international level, such as the RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada or the Challenge" and has also highlighted the diversified offer offered by the surroundings of Salou.

For his part, Gavin Makel, managing director of Manchester City Women's Football Club, stated that “at Manchester City we are delighted to welcome the Costa Daurada as an official partner of our women's team; becoming our tourism partner says a lot about their commitment to women's football and its growth. We are excited about the opportunities that will be offered to our team and supporters thanks to this agreement.”

The Joint Promotion Plan of the FEHT and the Tourist Boards

This promotion plan, started in 2014, has as its main objective to apply part of the resources obtained from the tax to overnight stays in regulated establishments, and the FEHT is in charge of managing it. According to the participating actors, for several years very positive synergies have been created between the public and private sectors to achieve promotion objectives, both related to the Costa Daurada, and to the towns of Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca, as well as of tourist establishments: hotels, campsites and apartments. For the year 2021, the plan has had a budget of 1.5 million euros.
