Salou Sport: the New Benchmark for Sports Tourism in the Mediterranean
Salou. Costa Dorada. 23 January 2026. The Salou Sport brand, launched by the Salou Municipal Tourism Board, has been established to consolidate the municipality as the leading sports destination in the Mediterranean. This strategic positioning is built upon three pillars: elite infrastructure, a privileged climate, and an extensive calendar featuring more than 200 annual sporting events.
What is Salou Sport and what are its objectives?
The primary goal of Salou Sport is to combat tourism seasonality. By intensifying both internal and external promotion, Salou aims to attract professional and amateur athletes year-round. This strategy ensures a sustainable local economy and guarantees stable employment 365 days a year.
Salou Sport Event Calendar
Salou hosts some of the most prestigious national and international competitions across various disciplines:
- Motorsports: RallyRACC (Catalunya-Costa Daurada).
- Triathlon & Cycling: Challenge Salou Triathlon and Cycling Mussara Salou.

Specifically, within the FITUR Sports segment, Mayor Pere Granados participated in a high-level roundtable titled "Public investment in events and sports tourism: A vision of return and generated impact." He was joined by the Director General of Sports for the Government of Aragon and the Vice-Minister of Physical Activity and Sports for the Government of the Canary Islands.
