"The great beauty" trailer

Cambrils. Costa Dorada. 24 December 2013.
“The great beauty”, a film by Italian director Paolo Sorrentino, recent winner of Best European Film 2013, is being released exclusively in Cambrils on Friday December 27. The new cinema and culture center Rambla de l’Art will premiere exclusively and for the first time in the lands of Tarragona the most awarded film of the year.

The film is set in a beautiful and decadent Rome and the main character is a 65 years old jornalist, Jap Gambardella (played by Toni Servillo), who moves to areas of high culture, which is the inspiration for their articles. Theirs is a society of speculators, estate agents and aristocrats, but doesn’t avoid the crowds and also likes to wander popular monuments that testify to the passage of time in the city.

Lush and decadent Rome

Director Paolo Sorrentino (among other films had directed “Il Divo", based on the figure of the former Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti) seems inspired by Fellini’s ”La Dolce Vita” when proposing his own vision of Rome today, equally dazzling and decadent. The dialogues and situations seek reflection and self-criticism in a series of scenes that combine mediocrity with exuberance and grandeur. As highlighted criticism of virtually unanimous, the result is a work with a poetic that leaves no one indifferent.

“The great beauty” has toured successfully for major festivals in the world. It was selected to participate in the contest 's official Cannes Film Festival, nominated for the Golden Globe for best foreign language film, and received the award for best actor (Toni Servillo) at Festival in Seville. It was also the big winner at the European Film Awards, where won four awards: best film, director, actor and film editing.
