Due to the deadly train crash in Toledo and the national mourning decreed by the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia for October 29, 30, and 31, 2026, the Salou City Council has rescheduled the Salouween festival and the Festa Major of October 30 to November 6, 7, and 8, 2026.
In a statement, the City Council expressed "its most sincere condolences and respect to all the people affected by this tragedy," and a minute of silence was observed before the Plenary session held on October 28 and, in the afternoon, in the City Hall lobby.
Salouween will once again bring terror and fun to the streets
On November 7, 8, and 9, the Jaume I promenade will host the highly anticipated Salouween Street, maintaining its initially scheduled hours, while Bonet Square will be the setting for the Salouween Street Market within its planned timeframe.
That same Saturday, November 7, the program will be packed with activities. On the one hand, the Department of Childhood will celebrate the traditional Castanyada without any changes to its location or schedule.
On the other hand, one of the most anticipated moments, the Salouween Parade, will move its start time forward to 7:00 p.m. (half an hour earlier than planned) to avoid overlapping with the Impro Show Horror performance. So that all participants are ready for the parade, the makeup marathon will open its doors at 5:00 p.m.
The main events of October 30 are moved to November 7
Saturday, November 7, will also serve as the setting to commemorate the 37th anniversary of Salou's segregation, which will keep its traditional sequence of festivities:
The tree planting will kick off the day at 10:00 a.m., followed by the popular breakfast at 11:00 a.m. and the traditional floral offering at 12:30 p.m.
The commemoration will continue with the popular paella, the launching of rockets, the dance with the Ruben's orchestra, dinner, and the grand finale fireworks, maintaining the original schedule of the program.
The Salou City Council has decided to postpone the rest of the activities that are not strictly part of the segregation celebration to later dates. The goal of this change is to ensure greater citizen participation and give each event the prominence it deserves.
The city council wishes to thank residents, collectives, and organizations for their understanding regarding these changes caused by exceptional circumstances, encouraging the entire population to join the rescheduled events.
