Salou will hold the closing events of Nits Daurades 2026 on Sunday, 6 September, after the celebrations scheduled for 15 August had to be cancelled due to the red INUNCAT weather alert caused by severe weather conditions.
The cancellation affected some of the festival's most important events, including the Mare de Déu procession, the maritime procession of the religious image and the fireworks display. Given the risk situation, the City Council prioritised the safety of residents, participants and visitors and postponed the celebrations.
Now that the alert has passed, these events will take place on 6 September, which will become the closing day of this year's Nits Daurades. The celebrations will begin at 8:00 p.m. with a solemn Mass at Santa Maria del Mar church, followed by the traditional procession and the maritime procession of the Mare de Déu.
The day will conclude with the fireworks display, one of the most eagerly awaited events of Nits Daurades, bringing the festival to a close.
Salou Mayor Pere Granados defended the decision to suspend the events due to the weather alert, stressing that “people's lives and physical safety must come before any other consideration.” He also highlighted that the new date will allow the town to restore a deeply rooted celebration that is part of the traditions most cherished by residents and visitors.
