Sabor Salou, the gastronomic fair on the Costa Daurada

Salou. Costa Dorada. 20 April 2024. Attention all lovers of good food. Get ready for a weekend full of flavors, culture and fun because the 12th edition of Sabor Salou is about to become a festival for the senses. From May 3 to 5, the Jaume I promenade will be the epicenter of gastronomy and joy in the capital of the Costa Daurada.

And what makes Sabor Salou so special? Why is Sabor Salou the best gastronomic fair on the Costa Daurada? Because it is capable of bringing together 42 establishments that offer the best local cuisine along with the most select products with Designation of Origin in the area. The more than 50,000 tastings served and the 40,000 people who enjoy this event each year are proof of the quality of Sabor Salou's gastronomic offering and the success of its organizational formula.

This fair is also combined with culinary activities and free tastings, with musical performances and a space with inflatables for children, so that Sabor Salou has established itself as a proposal that never runs out and always surprises.

Sabor Salou schedules and activities

The opening hours of Sabor Salou are as follows:

  • Friday, May 3, from 5 p.m. to midnight
  • Saturday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to midnight
  • Sunday, May 5th from 11 a.m. to midnight

The different free tastings and workshops at Sabor Salou in which you can participate are:

May 4, 2024:
  • from 12 to 12:45 p.m.: Coffee tasting
  • from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Beer tasting
  • from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.: Cocktail show
  • from 5 to 5:45 p.m.: Children's hamburger workshop
  • from 6 to 6:45 p.m.: Honey tasting
  • from 7 to 7:45 p.m.: Siurana Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) olive oil tasting

May 5, 2024:
  • from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.: DO Tarragona wine tasting
  • from 5 to 5:45 p.m.: Thai cuisine showcooking
  • from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.: Children's pizza workshop

All of these activities are free but it is necessary to register in advance at savorsalou.cat/activitats-2024, as they take place in a tent located on the same Paseo Jaume I where the Sabor Salou is celebrated, and capacity is limited.

Salou flavor with children

Sabor Salou is a gastronomic fair for all ages and also for families. The fair's long hours allow you to enjoy all the gastronomic and festive offerings at your convenience. In addition, the Jaume I promenade is an open space, in front of the beach, which makes it easy to walk with the little ones.

As if this were not enough, for families with young children Sabor Salou 2024 offers:

space with inflatables in operation during the same hours as the fair so that the little ones have a great time and it is not so hard for them to go from stop to stop tasting the delicious gastronomic proposals

two free culinary workshops for children:
  May 4 from 5 to 5:45 p.m.: children's hamburger workshop
  May 5 from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.: children's pizza workshop

Inauguration with Gessamí Caramés

On Friday, May 3, the opening of Sabor Salou will be an event with the presence of the well-known pastry chef, barista and chef of the restaurant “Meleta de Romer” in l'Ametlla de Mar, Gessamí Caramés, very popular for being the co-presenter of the Cuines program on TV3.

The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, together with the Councilor for Economic Dynamization, Héctor Maiquez, wanted to highlight the importance of Sabor Salou as an engine of tourist and economic revitalization, as well as a key element in the promotion of the cultural identity of the city.

For her part, Andrea Mazzanti, technical director of the event, has emphasized the organization's commitment to offering a renewed and enriched experience year after year. Furthermore, Mazzanti has assured that this edition promises to be unforgettable, with a special focus on connecting visitors with the authentic flavors of Salou, reinforcing the educational and exchange dimension of Sabor Salou.
