The massive turnout during the opening ceremony on Friday, May 22, 2026, already signaled that this fourteenth edition of
Sabor Salou would break all previous records. And indeed it did:
90,000 people came out to enjoy the Costa Dorada’s premier gastronomic fair.
Throughout the weekend, the
Jaume I Promenade was buzzing with a non-stop stream of residents and visitors of all ages, who strolled, ate, drank, and danced around the event's
56 stands. This year’s fair featured more exhibitors and an expanded layout covering
7,357 m²—nearly 1,700 m² more than in previous editions.
The
GastroLab by Makro tent also expanded, growing f
rom 96 m² to 144 m² to enhance its lineup of
free showcookings, tastings, workshops, and culinary activities scheduled across the weekend.
In light of this success, the
Mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, emphasized that "
Sabor Salou is a clear example of how gastronomy helps diversify the municipality's tourism offerings and generate economic activity ahead of the summer season."
According to Granados, "
this fair allows us to project Salou as a vibrant city, capable of attracting visitors not just for its sun and beaches, but also for its vibrant dining scene, its atmosphere, its family-friendly activities, and the high quality of its gastronomic sector."
For his part, the
Councillor for Economic Promotion, Hèctor Maiquez, added that "
the fair succeeds because it combines gastronomy, leisure, family, and economic promotion in a single space." He also stressed that "
the inclusion of new establishments proves that Sabor Salou is a valuable platform for the sector and an effective tool to boost the local economy ahead of the high season."
