Valls celebrates the popular Calçotada on January 31



Valls. Costa Dorada. The next Sunday, 31 January 2010, Valls celebrates the great feast of calçotada. From 10:00 am until 8:00pm many are the acts that take place in the capital of Alt Camp. The most significant: at 11:00 in the Plaça de l'Oli will be a demonstration of how to prepare and cook the calçots. At 1:00pm, in the Plaça de la Cort, will take place the XXIV contest on how to eat calçots. Also, at the same time, in the Plaça de l'Oli i Plaça de la Zeta, there will be a popular tasting of calçotada. The festival will pervade the streets and squares of Valls in marked local color and noise, and which will develop a diverse program of popular events and competitions related to calçot: Street parade, cooking demonstrations and samplings of grilled barbecued onions, contests of calçots growers, romesco competition, dancing with folk elements, national exposure canine. Valls, the birthplace of calçot Valls is the hometown of "calçotada" because more than one hundred years ago we made calçotades. Since the late nineteenth century, familias of Valls, tradition has been passed from generation to generation. So Valls is the capital known as "calçot", this fact is so rooted gastronomically typical and popular in our house. The "calçotada", a meal based on the "calçot" its sauce and additions, nine streams of people every year between the months of November and April. Valls is a land of "calçots. The composition of the soil, water, climate ... encourage the cultivation of the good "calçots. From this position, the city is proud to offer one more year, the Festival of "Calçotada.
