Tarragona hosts the exhibition "Conventional Symbols "



Tarragona. Costa Dorada. October 8th, 2012. The Museum of Modern Art in Tarragona Province (MAMT) hosts until November 25 the exhibition "Symbols conventional" of the painter and graphic artist Regina Gimenez. This is a show about maps and legends from a visual and formal look. Maps dumb that allow you to place pictures of different architectural character without any real geographic coincidence, and symbols are not realistic, without any information and without his legend representations of maps created purely visual compositions reading, and become works geometric abstraction, objective and without personal bill. "Symbols conventional" opened this morning in a ceremony attended by the director of MAMT Rosa Ricomà, art critic David Armengol, and the artist, Regina Gimenez. As pointed Director of the Museum, Rose Ricomà, "the show that opened today is the result of 37th Tapiró Painting Prize won by the artist in 2010, so this shows close the loop". Ricomà explained that at present, is already working on the MAMT Art Biennial 2012, an event which, he said, "makes us feel very proud because of what the artists involved" . In turn, the art critic and curator David Armengol, Gimenez said that "for world maps of the axis of the sample", which combines elements that are located close to painting to photography and architecture, "forming a collage that invites us to an exercise in contemplation and participation." Finally, the same artist, Regina Gimenez thanked Tarragona Province its important contribution to the creation and diffusion of artistic and invited the audience to enjoy the show. The show will be open to MAMT with the following schedule: Tuesday through Friday from 10 to 20 pm, Saturday from 10 to 15 and from 17 to 20 on Sundays and holidays from 11 am to 14 pm. The author Regina Gimenez (Barcelona 1966) holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. Tarragona, Madrid, Paris and Brussels are just some of the cities that have seen their works, which has won several awards including the Prix 37th Tapiró Painting Art Biennial 2010. Tarragona Province, through the Museum of Modern Art announces awards Tapiró Julio Antonio painting and sculpture as part of the Art Biennale inter institution with the aim of promoting the creation and research in the fields of painting and sculpture.
