Tarragona celebrates the Night of Museums 2012

Tarragona. Costa Dorada. May 10th 2012. The Museum of Modern Art Tarragona Province (MAMT) has scheduled free activities for all ages to celebrate the International Museum Day (on 18 May) and the Museum Night (on 19 May) . This year's International Museum Day celebrates the 35th anniversary. For this year's International Museum Day, presented under the theme "Museums in a changing world. New challenges, new inspirations," the MAMT has organized two events for free access. The first will take place on 18 May 12 to 13 h, and invites participants to discover areas of the reserve collection of paintings in the Museum of Modern Art. The second will take place the same day 18, from 13 to 14 h, and offers a guided tour of the temporary exhibition "Rethinking Land" produced by the School of Art and Design Council of Tortosa and curated by Leonardo Escoda . This day, the MAMT open to the public from 10 am to 20 pm. The International Museum Day is a global event organized by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) held every year at this time, since 1977. Museums around the world to this day hold a series of activities (open days, tours, night tours or competitions) in order to educate the public about the role of museums in the development of society. This year the event celebrates its 35th anniversary. The MAMT participates in the Museum Night 2012 with a wide range of activities On Saturday 19 May, during the Museum Night 2012, the Modern Art Museum of the Province will open its doors from 22 h to 1 h to provide free activities designed for children and adults . Thus, in the auditorium, there will be a screening of audiovisuals: "The Museum with your eyes", the result of a participatory activity that invites everyone to their mobile phones to capture pictures and videos on MAMT. Moreover, the public visiting the MAMT night of May 19 will enjoy a very special tour through the rooms of this cultural area of ​​the hand of the guide: Know MAMT landscapes. A journey that will enable participants to learn about the landscapes, over time, have inspired the artists of the Tarragona region. Finally, we organized a family workshop entitled: "Our landscape", an activity that invites children to create their own landscape using various materials and techniques. In addition to open at dawn on 19 May the Museum of Modern Art in the Council will be open all day (from 10 to 17 of the 15 there are 20 h). In the evening, attendees can enjoy a selection of goodies at the entrance of MAMT. In the previous edition of Night of Museums, this area of ​​the County Council received over 300 visits in one night.
