Tarragona. Costa Dorada. The Government has agreed to a proposal by the Minister of Culture and Media, Joan Manuel Tresserras, declared of national interest in heritage festival the festival of Sant Pere de Reus (traditional festival which was declared of national interest the 2001), the Fiestas de Santa Tecla de Tarragona (national interest since 1996) and of the Holy Burial Procession of Tarragona (traditional festival declared of national interest since 1999). The reclassification of these festivals is to bring his statement to the current rules, contained in Decree 389/2006 of 17 October, heritage holiday in Catalonia. The additional provision of the decree stipulates that the Ministry of Culture and Media has reviewed the statements of traditional festivals of national interest declared before the entry into force of the decree and reclassified them if appropriate. " The delegate pointed out that the procession of the Holy Burial, which came out first on 3 April 1550, is the largest in Catalonia and one of the highlights of Spain, "thanks to the perseverance, the effort, generosity and the feeling that each year the dump Fraternities, sororities, unions and associations involved. " Both the Easter Festival of Tarragona as Santa Tecla state also have the distinction of National Tourist Interest. Furthermore, the delegate considered that in the case of Reus "reaffirms its leadership Catalan cultural level" with pioneering initiatives in Catalonia and the Centre for Performing Arts Reus (CAER), a public center for production and schedule of theater, music, dance, circus, and other activities that encompasses the Fortuny Theatre, Theatre Bartrina, the output (CREA CAER), the fair Trapeze, Body & More Dance festivals and other cycles. Eventually, Xavier Sabaté stressed that the two cities have or will have centers of contemporary art from the first level.
