Tarragona. Costa Dorada. 15th May 2012. The Government in 2013 will commemorate the birth centenary of the writer Espriu. To commemorate the event, during the Year Espriu organized conferences, exhibitions, publications and events for the dissemination of the life and work of one of the leading figures of Catalan literature. The Government will appoint a commissioner to the centennial of Espriu, to coordinate the various initiatives and activities proposed from the Government to commemorate the anniversary. Salvador Espriu i Castelló (Santa Coloma de Farners, 1913 - Barcelona, 1985) is one of the leading figures of Catalan literature of the twentieth century. He wrote novels, plays and poetry, combined with skill and different literary forms: poetry, elegy, satire and didactic. In 1972 he was awarded the Prize of Honour in Catalan Letters.
