Vilalba dels Arcs. Roite to Berrús and Sant Pau

Vilalba Arcs is furrowed by ravines that carry their waters to the Ebro. It is in the northern sector of the region of Terra Alta, between the valley and the mountains of Voravall Fatarella. The route visits the hermitage of Santa Magdalena Berrús, in the Riba-Roja. In Vilalba come from Waldo taking the TV-7231 in the direction N. The village was part of the territory of the Magistracy Miravet, Ramon Berenguer IV gave the Templars. Later he joined the Order in Asco. In the early century XIV, the Templars were replaced by the Hospitallers in the lordship of these territories. At the end of century XV created the Order Vilalba Arcs. The parish church of San Lorenzo, begun in the s. Sixteenth and finished in 1705, combines Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. It was designed by the architect Francisco Ibarguenz. The chapel of Our Lady of Grace was the original church, built during the reign Templar, originally Romanesque, Gothic and transition to that later was modified. Formerly, the main street was crossed by porches. Currently, the only extant in the Town Square. Also interesting are examples of popular architecture hammer home, the old wash house and Neck public, called the Source. Other places to visit on foot are: Calvary Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, Baroque, and the chapel of the Virgin of Montserrat. To go to Berrús, we left the village towards N Bassot porch, down the coast of the source and take the first track on the left. You must always follow the main path, winding but obvious that the Sant Pau ressegeix or Voravall. After 9.9 km long, reached St. Paul, a chapel ceiling troglodytic with natural rock. Once we passed the chapel, at km 11, we put together a road to the left coming from La Pobla de Massaluca. Later, at km 12.2, we find a bifurcation: it leaves the bottom of the ravine and go right. At the next junction at km 14.6 and amidst the ridge, continue on the TV-7411-clockwise, which is provided by the range, we will Berrús. It reaches 20.3 km. The church, dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene, is Romanesque, the Gothic Transition. From here you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view. From Vilalba, it makes a pilgrimage every first Saturday after Easter. We can undo the same way again or for the TV-7411 and then the TV-7231 through Massaluca of Puebla.
