Salou hosts the European Rally Championship, which will coincide with the RalliRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada

Salou. Costa Dorada. 04 August 2022. Motoring enthusiasts are starting to get busy this autumn, as Salou will host the European Rally Championship (ERC) and the World Championship, the RalliRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada in October. Both will coincide for a few days, especially between October 20 and 23.

The European Championship will hold its final round on the Costa Dorada, with 14 timed stages and a total of 240.60 km, making this rally the longest of the season. The special qualifying test will take place on Thursday the 20th and the two days of action will be on Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd of October, ending the qualifying route with the second pass through Montmell (24.40 km), which will be Power Stage for the championship. Sunday's stage of the RallyRACC will not be valid for the classification of the European.

Catalan and Spanish pilots will participate: Efrén Llarena – Sara Fernández (leaders at the moment), Nil Solans – Marc Martí and Javier Pardo – Adrián Pérez, provisional third and forth respectively. In addition, Joan Vinyes - Jordi Mercader are first in the ERC Open ahead of Alberto Monarri - Carlos Cancela, while Óscar Palomo - Xevi Moreno lead the ERC 4 section and are second in Junior. The fact that the Catalan race closes the championship will give you great anticipation, as the final classification of the FIA ​​ERC absolute and the other sections will be decided.

At the presentation of the rally, the mayor of Salou and president of the Municipal Tourism Board, Pere Granados, expressed his satisfaction at hosting the FIA ​​European Rally Championship in the capital of the Costa Daurada, benchmark in sports tourism; and this novelty strengthens, even more, the potential of this championship at the same time as it adds interest to the event, at a European and global level".

For his part, the head of the FIA ​​European Rally Championship, Iain Campbell, was delighted to be able to welcome the RallyRACC: "We are very excited to announce that the RallyRACC Catalunya - COSTA DAURADA, Ral· from Spain, it will be the final test of this year's championship," he said.
