Repsol reiterates its link with the URV in the 10th anniversary of the Chair of Excellence in Communication

Repsol and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili have congratulated each other for the longevity of their collaboration link around the URV / Repsol International Chair of Excellence in Communication, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary. The company will contribute 100,000 euros in the next three years so that this teaching activity continues to develop high level scientific research and dissemination activities in the communication environment. In this way, the firm aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the industrial environment of Tarragona, where it is located. The double celebration: the tenth birthday of the initiative and the commitment to renewal have had journalist Lluís Foix his master of ceremony. Foix has delivered the conference "Journalism in times of change" during the commemorative act that has had as stage the Auditorium of the URV.

The International URV / Repsol Chair of Excellence and Communication aims to generate quality knowledge, socially relevant, around social communication; promote good communication practices by companies and institutions, media and journalists in their capacity as socially responsible actors; contribute to the high-level training of future professionals in journalism, audiovisual creation and corporate communication; and promote the international dissemination of communication research that is generated at the Rovira i Virgili University.

In its 10 years of existence, the International Chair URV / Repsol of Excellence and Communication has published 63 articles in impact journals, 14 books and dozens of chapters, has awarded € 54,000 in scholarships to students of the MASTERDEC, has managed to be approved 79 applications in competitive calls, has made 25 international research stays, has been recognized 24 accreditations (of the Generalitat and the Ministry) and defended 20 doctoral theses.

Currently, the URV has 14 Chairs for the dissemination of knowledge and innovation in different areas, from sustainable development to business innovation, through housing or data privacy, in collaboration with different companies and institutions in the territory.

Repsol and the URV, referents in the economic and social development of the counties of Tarragona, maintain a close relationship of collaboration in different areas, beneficial for both parties and in general for the society of our environment. For the company, the commitment to the university is essential: investing in knowledge and research contributes to guaranteeing a high competitiveness standard in the environment where the activity takes place.

Proof of this commitment is the collaboration maintained by the Repsol Foundation and the Social Council of the URV. Between the years 2006-07 and the current one, the Foundation has financed scholarships worth 880,000 euros so that 128 students with economic difficulties could enroll in the university. In addition, the Tarragona Industrial Complex favors the professional immersion of students. Since 2010, 113 students have completed their training as interns at the Repsol facilities.
