The forecast of occupancy for hotel establishments in Salou for the Christmas season are encouraging. If an occupation of 65 percent is expected by Christmas, at the end of the year they expect to reach 85%. Some places expect to hang the “No vacancy” for New Year’s Eve. Eduard Farriol, president of the Federation of Hotel Businessmen (FEHT), made this forecast calculating the average occupation of the sector: "from December 24 until the day of “Kings”. We expect a 75 percent in the municipalities of the central Costa Dorada -Salou, Cambrils, Vila-seca and La Pineda.”
According to Farriol, the occupation will be mostly composed of families and groups of close friends, "especially of Spanish and French who take advantage of these holidays and mild temperatures to discover Port Aventura World." Dinners and gala dinners for groups are another attraction offered by the establishments of the Costa Dorada.
31st of December, followed by 24th and 25th, are the dates expecting to give better results to the innkeepers. This peak will start to low on January 2nd and until the “Day of Kings”. Families, especially those with little children, prefer to spend those days home.
14,000 hotel beds
Twenty hotels will open their doors this Christmas offering 14,000 hotel beds out of the total 52,604 from the Hotel Association Salou-Cambrils-La Pineda.
Regarding the campsites, about ten will be open -four on the coast and six on the mountain-, offering a total of 6,159 places. These will be occupied by couples and families of proximity "who tend to be regular customers for these dates in the campsites, some of which offer activities and workshops for the little ones. In the mountain area, occupancy will reach 90 percent, especially bungalows, which allow shelter from winter temperatures, "added the president of FEHT.
The celebration of Christmas Day, traditionally familiar, makes the data vary from day 24 to 25, when they suddenly fall. Regarding the apartments, Farriol believes the occupation will be around 75 percent.
