Called the Sustainable Tourism Awards aimed at young people in Salou
Salou. Costa Dorada. 27 September 2025. Coinciding with World Tourism Day, which is September 27, the City Council has announced the call for the Sustainable Tourism Awards of Salou, which is aimed at young people registered in the municipality who are students of 3rd and 4th ESO, Baccalaureate or training cycles.
Participants must present a short video (20–60 seconds), designed for social networks, which reflects the values of Salou as a sustainable, inclusive and innovative destination. The video must be submitted no later than 29 March 2026. For each educational cycle there will be a first prize endowed with 500 euros, with a global endowment of 2,500 euros.
With this initiative, the Consistory wants to reaffirm its leadership as an international tourist destination, which combines sustainability and innovation, also taking into account the coexistence with the salouenca community.
In this sense, the mayor of Salou and president of the Tourist Board, Pere Granados, said that "beyond the economic impact, tourism has given us for years values that have made us an open, tolerant and cosmopolitan society."
Granados added that “Salou will continue to work to strengthen its tourism model, placing the person at the center and reinforcing the values of a modern, open and cosmopolitan destination”.
Why is there a World Tourism Day?
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) chose September 27 as World Tourism Day in 1979. He chose this date because it is when he approved his statutes, and he did so with the aim of raising awareness about the social, cultural, political and economic importance of tourism.
