The Mare Nostrum Easter Cup 2022 expects 6,000 participants from April 14 to 17

Salou. Costa Dorada. 05 April 2022. Between April 14 and 17, 2022, the Mare Nostrum Easter Cup soccer tournament expects to bring together 290 male and female soccer teams, aged 8 to 19, from various autonomous and international communities in Salou. In total, some 6,000 people, including athletes and their companions, will stay in the capital of the Costa Daurada.
 
The matches of the tournament will be played in the sports facilities of the Futbol Salou Sports Center, which for this competition has 18 football pitches 7 and 2 football pitches 11. Matches will also be played in the municipal stadiums of Salou, Tarragona, Reus, Riudoms , Morell, Constantí and Borges del Camp. In total, 28 11-a-side football pitches and 40 7-a-side football pitches will be available for the tournament, and Riudoms will host the women's matches.

Teams from the Basque Country, Navarra, Madrid, Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Valencia, Catalonia will participate; and internationally, teams from the United States, England, Cyprus, Finland, Lithuania, Holland and Ghana are expected. In total, 30% state teams, 10% foreign and the rest Catalan.

In this edition of the Mare Nostrum Easter Cup, the organizers have eliminated paper and plastic and have placed fountains on each football field so that the players can fill the bottles they will receive as a gift. In addition, paper has also been eliminated and all the information and results can be obtained through an APP.

Lastly, this year the tournament will have a charitable aspect since admission will be charged to the public that is not related to the participants, and the proceeds will go to Cáritas and sports equipment for Senegal. The material will be delivered on Friday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Futbol Salou Sports Center and will be attended by the mayor, Pere Granados; Cheikhe Amadou Bamba Sarr, head of foreign relations at Fatick; and Ousmane Kebe, Fatick youth team coach.

The program of the Mare Nostrum Easter Cup will begin on Thursday, April 14, Holy Thursday, with the welcome to the participating teams and the inaugural parade along Paseo Jaume I in Salou to the Cibernéticas fountains, where there will be parliaments and the official opening. On Friday April 15 and Saturday April 16, morning and afternoon, the different matches will take place, and on Sunday April 17 at 12 noon the finals will be played. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on the same day.

Apart from the sports activities, on Saturday April 16 a parade is planned with the festive groups of Salou Tresmall Salou Cultural Association and the Associació Sal i Ou, Bestiari, Balls Tradicionals i Populars, who will participate with the Batucada, the Nanos de Salou and the Mulasa.

In addition, the tournament participants will have an accrediting bracelet that will allow them to obtain discounts in Salou shops. They will also be able to enjoy the main attractions of the municipality and the territory such as the climate, the beaches, the gastronomy and the services.

In the presentation of the Mare Nostrum Easter Cup, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, has highlighted the municipality's commitment to sports events of this magnitude and has recalled the different brands and seals that accredit Salou as a destination specialized in sports tourism, the The first of them was achieved in 2013 precisely with the discipline of football, which has later been expanded with dinghy sailing, cycling, golf and triathlon.

For his part, the CEO and co-founder of the Mare Nostrum Cup, Albert Viñas, thanked the Salou City Council, the Municipal Tourist Board and the Tarragona Provincial Council for their support, through the Costa Daurada brand; and also from the General Secretariat of Sport.
