New train line to get to Salou-PortAventura

Image of the old train station of Salou

Salou. Costa Dorada. 10 January 2020. A new commuter line is the one that connects from January 13, 2020 to Salou with Barcelona by train. The historic claim to get the train flow through half of the coastal municipalities from Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant to Tarragona has finally come true and the road has been unfolded to pass outside the urban centers of Salou, Cambrils, Mont-roig del Camp and Vandellós and l'Hospitalet de l'Infant.

This work, which comes more than 20 years late, brings several changes, such as the cancellation of what was until now the Renfe de Salou station, located on Carles Roig street, to use the new station built on the avenue Joan Fuster, baptized as Salou-PortAventura. In addition, the R17 line has been created that directly links Barcelona with PortAventura and Salou by train (in the attached pdf you can check the schedules). The R17 offers 24 trains a day round trip and is reinforced in summer with 2 more services. On the other hand, the trains and frequencies of the RT2 line are maintained.

On the other hand, users of the new station will enjoy a shuttle bus service with a total of 14 round-trip expeditions from Salou de Carles Roig station to the new Salou-PortAventura station (see schedules in pdf) . There will be an information service at the Carles Roig station, between 7 am and 10 pm, until January 31 to inform passengers and passengers that the new operating station is PortAventura.

At the new Salou-PortAventura station there will be customer service between 6.30 am and 10.30 pm; and an operative self-sale machine will also be installed from January 20, 2020.

Given these changes, the City of Salou continues to urgently demand the construction of a branch from the Salou-PortAventura station to the railway branch from Tarragona and that connects with the Corridor line, to reinforce Salou's connectivity within the railway system current.
