The Local Police recognices 18 agents for their services

Salou. Costa Dorada. 30 September 2025. On the occasion of the onomastics of Sant Miquel, patron of the Local Police of Salou, the City Council has organized an act of celebration that has also served to recognize 18 agents for their services. It has also been recalled that Salou is a safe municipality, according to the latest official data, and that the Local Police "is key to guarantee the quality of life of the citizens" said the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados.

During an official event held in Torre Vella, a diploma of congratulations was awarded to each of the 18 agents distinguished for actions such as the collaboration with the Local Police of Valencia as a result of the DANA, the rescue of a British family on the Long Beach or their participation in the shooting championship.

In his speech, Pere Granados thanked the work of the police force and "respect and admiration for their necessary and recognized professional work." In this sense, he recalled that the work of the municipal police “goes far beyond maintaining order and coexistence”.

For his part, the Councilor for Citizen Security, Sebastià Domínguez, has also congratulated the members of the body and recalled that “you are mediators, helpers and, in many cases, the first friendly face that those who need help find”. Domínguez has highlighted the challenges faced by the Local Police in a tourist destination like Salou, and has highlighted how the security body “faces this reality effectively, year after year, and demonstrate your extraordinary capacity and commitment”.

In turn, the head of the Local Police, José Luis Gargallo, has reviewed the last year, recognizing "the good work of the entire staff in all its departments" and has remarked the collaboration with other security forces, especially with the Mossos d'Esquadra. Gargallo also addressed the new agents, reminding them “the importance of vocation, respect for the law and empathy with the citizen”.

The head of the Local Police has celebrated that for the first time, "the organic workforce is complete", which is 80 people, a fact that will allow to face future challenges with guarantees, and thanked the City Council for the commitment to modernizing the body with new technical resources, vehicles and equipment.

The event was attended by numerous authorities, including the chief prosecutor of the province of Tarragona, Maria José Osuna; responsible for the state security forces and bodies, Mossos d'Esquadra, as police representatives of other municipalities, military authorities, judicial and representatives of the social fabric of the city.
