Salou. Costa Dorada. 09 June 2026.
As is the case every year, on the night of June 23rd to 24th, Salou will celebrate the San Juan verbena with a wide program of events starting on Tuesday afternoon across different parts of the city. Although temperatures have felt fully like summer for weeks now, for many people, this celebration still marks the symbolic beginning of the summer season.
It is a highly anticipated date on the calendar, but what is truly synonymous with San Juan is the arrival of the Flama del Canigó. Every year, volunteers and organizers take charge of transporting it throughout all the països catalans to light the bonfires in every town. The flame is kept lit all year round at the Castellet de Perpiñán, and on the night of June 22nd to 23rd, it is carried to the summit of Canigó, where a new bonfire is lit.
In Salou, as tradition dictates, the Flama is received by the pubillas and herederos upon its arrival. This kicks off the celebration, and the flame is carried through the streets of the city accompanied by a spectacular, high-level correfoc until it reaches the plaça de les Comunitats Autònomes.
The night of San Juan also transforms the playas de Ponent and, above all, Llevant, which fill up with bonfires and people sharing the verbena with family and friends. At the same time, the city hosts various activities and parties in different spots across Salou to experience this very special night.
