Salou will have four new green buoys will be installed in Cap Salou


Biotope installed off the beaches of Salou and Torredembarra



Salou. Costa Dorada. 11 June 2015. The Tarragona coast, between Torredembarra and Ametlla de Mar, will this year with eleven biotopes or ecological buoys are twofold: first mark out the coast and another to do it with these biotopes that attract marine flora and fauna and They favor its growth. It is recalled that since 2012, with support from Repsol, which sponsors this project, the coast of Tarragona has chosen the ecological marking of its beaches with the installation of ecological buoys. Unlike conventional buoys, which are based on concrete rectangular blocks, the foundations of ecological buoys are biotopes which by its design and materials, attracting marine flora and fauna. Biotopes, once installed, remain permanently at sea and at the start of the bathing season are located by its GPS position and are fitted with a buoy marking again until end of season.



Each of these biotopes weighs between 1,500 and 2,500 kilos, has a height of about two meters and a width of between 1.5 and two meters. Biotopes work pieces are conical and stone, made with calcium carbonate and cement, specific for the sea neutral pH. Biotopes include many small cavities where fish find refuge and protection.



The eleven biotopes or ecological buoys will be installed this year will be located in Salou (4), Torredembarra (1), L'Ametlla de Mar (3) and Tarragona (3) and added to the 46 existing ecological buoys in Torredembarra, Altafulla, L'Ametlla de Mar and Salou for marking of its beaches.



Biotopo Antina

Ecological buoys devised by Miquel Rota-expert in marine aquarium hobby alive and growing professional rock dive- born from its project for the construction of Biotopo Antina, an underwater mountain 18 meters high and 80 in diameter made of rocks calcium carbonate coral origin, to be located in the marine natural whole coastline of Torredembarra.



The project is Antina biotope for months in their final phase. From the beginning, the City of Torredembarra has supported so that it can develop this project that aims to be a world leader in terms of environmental and ecological, while wants to serve as a tourist attraction for the area and to attract diving enthusiasts.

Environmental workshops

In relation to this project, Torredembarra beach home until next October, environmental workshops with a total of 500 places available aimed at organizations, companies and schools with the aim of spreading the ecological system of marking. In addition, the Port of Torredembarra and until October there is an exhibition named 'green buoys' that allows a recorregur throughout the construction process, implementation and colonization of the green buoys.
