Salou invests € 63,444 to improve showers on the beaches of Ponent and Levante

Salou. Costa Dorada. 02 February 2018. The lack of adequate drainage has motivated the City Council to decide to invest in improving the platforms of showers on two beaches in the municipality. Specifically, they will be operated on five platforms of the beach of Poniente (4) and Levante (1). The total budget will be 63,444.29 euros and the ten-week execcution period.

The action needs turn out to be that the beach sand is a movable terrain, subjected to the constant action of the wind, which drags the sand grains that, when they find an obstacle, accumulate forming dunes. This favors the accumulation of beach sand near the coastal walls, so that the City Council has decided to act in front of the wall that separates Miramar from the beach of Poniente and in front of the wall that separates the Colom Street from the beach Lift This accumulation of sand supposes that the platforms of showers are below the desirable level and accumulates the water.

Councilor for Beaches, Julia Gómez, pointed out that "throughout the year, good beaches are being maintained, to be ready for the season". In addition, Gómez added that "the City Council is committed to quality and to continue improving the service offered to the user year after year. Proof of this are the various distinctions we receive at the end of the year. "

The works that are planned to carry out are the current uprising of wooden platforms, in such a way that they do not sink and promote natural drainage; punctual actions to improve drainage; the placing of anti-loop barriers that physically prevent the roots from reaching the base of the showers platforms; improvement actions in relation to the future maintenance such as the creation of registration on the basis and fixing of the showers, the renovation of the wood in case it was necessary and the application of oils for tropical wood.
