The mayor and the councilor agree to put an end to the problem of the Barenys ravine in 2020

The meeting has been valued as very positive by the attendees

Pere Granados, Mayor of Salou, and Damià Calvet, Regional Minister for Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat, have agreed on a timetable for the channeling of the Barenys ravine, which would begin at the beginning of 2020. The project is expected in June of next year. is approved by the ACA, the expropriations are carried out and the works are tendered. The agreement has been carried out in a meeting that has also been attended by the Councilor for Land Management, Marc Montagut; the director of the ACA; the secretary of Urban Habitat and Territory; the president of FGC; representatives of the Infrastructure Secretariat, and municipal technicians.
The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, has assured that "it has been a very positive meeting because we have set a schedule of action in which it is determined that during 2019 the whole procedure will be carried out so that in 2020 a point can be made and final one of the most important problems suffered by the municipality as is the flooding of the neighborhood of Health by overflowing the ravine.
It should be remembered that the project in which we are working is to create a single channel of channeling about 30 meters wide that will drain the water down Barenys Street.
For his part, the Minister of Territory of the Generalitat, Damià Calvet, stressed that the Government will finance the project with an investment of 14 million euros, of which 4.5 will be used to pay expropriations. He also stressed that "this road map is the result of months of work coordinated by all parties involved, and that from now on the Monitoring Committee created by the investment agreement between the City Council and the Generalitat will be promoting" .
On the other hand, during the meeting, railway projects pending implementation in Salou were also discussed, such as the dismantling of the current roads and their urban integration before the implementation of the stretch train project, and how all this must be managed. In this regard, it has been proposed to convene a "summit" of all parties affected by the ADIF, Fomento, FGC, council, and town councils of Salou and Cambrils.
