The city of Salou stands in solidarity against homophobia in football

Salou. Costa Dorada. 25 February 2018. On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day against Homophobia in football, the City of Salou wanted to show their solidarity through various measures. Among others, during this weekend will be placards banners in the parties with the slogan "Let's stop LGTBI discrimination in football and anywhere."

It will be the first time that the consistory from Salouen is added to this celebration. In the sports facilities of the municipality irisadas flags will be hung and the equipment will go out to the field taking it. The campaign aims to guarantee the rights of all people to enjoy a sports practice free of any discrimination based on sex or sexual orientation.

Although the date of celebration is February 19, when it coincides on Monday and no match is held, it has been decided to pass the celebration this weekend when there is a greater sporting movement. This initiative will be made thanks to the collaboration between the councils of Welfare and Social Services and the Department of Sports, and will take place in the municipal sports hall Salou center, where the Championship of Spain Final Phase Under-21 Women's Championship is held. Futsal (Organized by the Catalan Football Federation) and the Salou Soccer Sports Complex where League matches will be held between the UD.Salou School and the Costa Dorada School. In addition, informative posters will be placed on the action of commemoration and explanatory posters on the rights of LGTBI collectives with the slogan "Basta a la LGTBIfòbia!

The purpose of these actions is to make the struggle for equality visible in the world of sport and to show our deepest rejection of any type of discrimination based on sex or gender.

The campaign was created by the General Directorate of Equality and the General Secretariat of Sports, of the Generalitat of Catalonia and with the support of the Catalan Football Federation.
