Salou has demonstrated its rejection of violence against women through a series of events on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Among these, there is a Personal Defense workshop against male violence. This initiative, organized by the Women's Information and Advice Service (SIAD) of the City Council, is part of the Second Local Equality Plan addressed to the citizens of 2015-2019 and aims to promote gender equality and raise society's awareness to reduce the acts of macho violence.
As the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was on Sunday 25, the commemorative acts were moved to Friday, November 23. At 5:00 pm, the manifesto was read and a presentation was made by the health and welfare coach Minerva Castillo, in the Costa Daurada Room of the Civic Center. The sports facilities hung slogans on the canvases of "Salou says no to macho violence," and sports clubs held a minute of silence as a sign of mourning for the sexist murders of 2018.

The main objectives are to make known the fundamental principles of self-defense, uses and means of the aggressor and its basic "modus operandi", and the uses and basic means of self-defense.
