Terres de l’Ebre receive the award in Brussels Destination of Excellence EDEN

Terres de l'Ebre received in Brussles the award as Destination of Excellence EDEN, coinciding with the European Day of Tourism. The Delta del Ebro and its natural park have been the sole target of the state that has garnered the prize as European Destination of Excellence (EDEN), which this year has been granted under the theme "Tourism in protected natural areas”. On 8 October, under the European Day of Tourism the ceremony for the European award and gala dinner will be held. Also, on 25 September was the act of recognition nationwide, organized by the Natural Park of Delta del Ebro, the General Directorate of Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism. The event was attended by the General Director of Tourism, Joan Carles Vilalta, the director of the Natural Park of Delta del Ebro, Francesc Vidal i Esquerré, and the general director of the Tourism Institute of Spain (TURESPAÑA), Antoni Bernabe. Delta del Ebro, Tourist Destination of Excellence 2009 This year the EDEN award is linked to emerging tourist destinations in Protected Natural Areas. The Delta del Ebro´s project will help to highlight the visibility of European destinations, strengthening the demand on destinations that have created new tourism offerings, based on value enhancement and protection of natural areas. On the occasion of announcing the award, last July in Miravet, the Minister for Innovation, University and Enterprise, Josep Huguet, recalled that " it was the only resort that has received this award in the entire state," stressing that "the award represents the consolidation of Tierras del Ebro as a tourist destination and a recognition of the strong commitment to nature as one of the differentiating elements of the brand. " This distinction for Terres de l'Ebre represents, in general, and for the Delta, the ability to access sources of EU funding, the possibility of incorporating the label of European excellence in all activities and promotion of the destination and the chance to be promoted on videos, Internet, publications and other activities funded by the European Commission.
