The Blue Flag flies again on the Llevant and Capellans beaches

Salou. Costa Dorada. 17 May 2022. The Llevant and Capellans beaches in Salou have renewed the Blue Flag this 2022 that certifies their environmental quality and services, awarded by an international jury of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). In addition to this distinction, the main beaches and coves of Salou bear nationally and internationally recognized quality labels.

Specifically, the Blue Flag distinction rewards environmental management, the safety of bathing areas and their facilities, the optimal provision of services and information and environmental education. In addition, the quality of the bathing water must have obtained the classification of excellent. On the beaches of Llevant and Capellans de Salou the Blue Flag will be hoisted in mid-June.

Of the total of 25 beaches, coves and coves of Salou, a total of 9 have quality distinctions, in addition to the aforementioned Blue Flag.

Given the news of the renewal of the Blue Flag for another year, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, stated that “beaches are part of our natural and landscape heritage and are one of the main tourist attractions; and we work for them, so that they always offer the best guarantees of health and safety”.

For her part, the Councilor for Beaches, Julia Gómez, explained that "the main purpose of the Blue Flags is to promote and improve environmental behaviour, in all coastal destinations, so that they are a pole of attraction for responsible users and tourists".

The Blue Flag is awarded in 47 countries. In Catalonia there have been 94 beaches awarded with the Blue Flag 2022, 90 that renew the badge and 4 that recover it with respect to the year 2021. Of the 94 beaches, 26 are in the demarcation of Tarragona; 26, in Girona; 32, in Barcelona and 10, in Terres de l'Ebre.
