The beaches of Salou, ready for the summer season

Presentation of the rescue service

Salou. Costa Dorada. 01 June 2023. The City Council of Salou already has the two main security devices ready for the summer season on the beaches of the municipality: the lifeguard service and the Beach Police Station. The former has several land and water vehicles for rescue tasks, while the Beach Police Station will have a total of 22 service agents.

The lifeguard service has been active since March 31 on Llevant beach, where it will be in operation until October 15, and extends to Ponent beach from June 1 to September 30, 2023, during 10 in the morning to 6 or 7 in the afternoon. On Capellans beach, the service will be provided on demand.

The company Servitur Salvament SL is in charge of the lifeguard service on the beaches of Salou this season 2023. In addition to the specialized personnel who will monitor the beaches, it has an ambulance (ambulance), a rapid intervention vehicle (VIR), two motorcycles of water equipped with stretchers, a rescue element by radio control (DOLPHI), kayaks and paddle surf.

In the presentation of the service, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, highlighted that "vigilance and security on the beaches are a priority for us, because they give confidence to families and guarantee rescue actions". It has also highlighted the attention to people with functional diversity and "the commitment to work and develop services and products accessible to all people". In this sense, it is worth highlighting the availability of an amphibious chair to facilitate the bathing of people with reduced mobility .

Beach Police Station

On the other hand, from June 1, 2023, the Beach Police Station will also operate. It is located on Passeig Jaume I, and will operate every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., although from the last week of July and the month of August it will be open until 9 p.m.

A staff of 22 agents, 2 more than the previous year, will provide service from this police station. In addition, the City Council has purchased 6 electric bicycles for the officers' patrols on the beach, which will improve the service and contribute to environmental sustainability.

In 2022, more than 4,000 services will be provided at this police station, from the collection of complaints to information or assistance.

In addition to dealing with criminal matters, the mission of the Local Police officers of the Beach Police Station is to help the public, providing information, guidance and advice.

In the presentation of the police station, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, was satisfied with the good service provided by the beach police station, which is close to the citizen and very agile when it comes to measures that help security, coexistence and harmony, on the public road in front of the sea.
