The VI Festival of the Oil Vandellòs beats its record of participants

Vandellos. Costa Dorada. Some 300 people took part on 24 January, closing the VI Oil Festival, with which they exceeded the forecasts for the Agricultural Cooperative of Vandellos, with the support of the City of Vandellos il Hospitalet de l'Infant organized the celebration. In this regard, remember that the Cooperative was calculated taking into account the figures of previous participation, which was attended by some 250 people. This 2010, therefore, has been the year when more people participated in the party and in which there were more people outside the village, explained the organizers, saying that once again was presented to the public oil production of the season and were carrying out various activities so that everyone could taste the oil that occurs in Vandellòs, which is classified as extra virgin oil and is characterized by its intense fruity taste. Among these activities, which began after 10 hours, there was a community breakfast, a spin bowling competition and a garlic and oil, as is traditional. Those who wish they also had the opportunity to buy oil this year at a price lower than last year: 22 euros for 5 liters (50 cents cheaper). This season has been a total of 27,582.81 gallons of oil, of which 16,810 have been earmarked al'autoconsum members of the Cooperative, and the remaining 10,771.84 liters are in the venda of Vandellos a l'Agrobotiga . Vandellos oil is characterized by its mix of olives Arbequina variety and range of water, in smaller amounts.
