Princess Letizia Ortiz chairing a conference on skin cancer and melanoma in Salou

Princess Letizia Ortiz chaired this Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in Salou, a day against skin cancer Tarragona organized by the delegation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). The conference, under the theme "The skin has a memory ', was the setting chosen for the presentation of the study of AECC Cancer observatory on' sun protection behaviors and perception of risk of skin cancer in the Spanish population." The event, chaired by Princess Letizia Ortiz, was held at the Auditorium Theatre Salou (TAS) and was attended by researchers, doctors and other specialists in skin cancer and melanoma in particular, a disease of increasing incidence despite the continuing campaigns that were undertaken to raise public awareness. Princess Letizia Ortiz in Salou was received by the mayor, Pere Granados, by the Minister of Health of the Generalitat, Boi Ruiz and President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, Isabel Oriol Diaz de Bustamante. Back in Salou, after the first greetings to the authorities that received, Princess Letizia Ortiz approached people who were awaiting their arrival in the vicinity of the Auditorium Theatre of Salou. Then, Letizia Ortiz greeted the municipal corporation of Salou and the other personalities who took part in the day. Once inside the Teatro Auditorio de Salou, Princess Letizia Ortiz gave a brief parliament in Catalan and Castilian, where as the other speakers stressed the need for prevention and rapid diagnosis and measures to reduce negative statistics on skin cancer and melanoma. Among other measures, also spoke the mayor of Salou, Peter Grant, the Minister of Health of the Generalitat, Boi Ruiz and the delegate in Tarragona in the Spanish Association Against Cancer, Ana Vilallonga. The event was presented by journalist and host of TV3 Núria Solé. Among other issues, the speakers stressed the need to protect against the sun's rays as well as the importance of early diagnosis and requiring special care children, adolescents and people with fair skin, among other groups, to avoid negative effects Continued exposure to the sun. Princess Letizia Ortiz left the Auditorium Theatre Salou once the event and again after greeting the mourners as the day as a group of salouenses who waited at the exit to take pictures and cheer on the princess, who graciously approached the gathered before their final goodbyes to Salou.
