The Airfield of La Sénia Tierras del Ebro. Free guided tours. During the Civil War (1936-1939) the Government of the Second Republic, to defend themselves from rebel military coup, planned to build a series of military airfields in Catalonia. One of the most important was the airfield of the Senia, built in 1937. It is a space partially preserved as historical heritage and linked to the recent report of population with numerous references to oral, documentary and graphic history. The airfield consisted of an area of 90 ha of land and an irregular perimeter resembling a pentagram. Elements that were part of it: - Three runways - A bomb shelter located near the command house - The house of command, with offices, the flight control and operations - The Caseta Roé, where was the team transmissions - The Tower of Marti, and club official residence - The Moll Hospital, home to troops and electrical Central - Storage of maintenance, prefabricated wooden buildings and tents. The guide offered has two parts: the first guided tour of the airfield and a second tour of the town of La Senia, through spaces and buildings associated with the stay Republicans and subsequently Condor Legion during the Civil War. During the tour it is also passed by the main buildings of the old town. During this second visit, you may also visit the exhibition on the Field of Aviation located in the Old Town Hall. Days and times of guided tours to the Field of Aviation Sénia  at 4 pm(Besides being able to do the tour, there is also the chance to visit the Field of Aviation for free). Observations - The visit to the airfield will last 45 minutes - 1 hour. - The guided tour through the town of La Senia will lasts 1 hour and 1 / 2, approximately. - Transport from the Tourist Office to the Field of Aviation (2.6 km) and then, if you want to visit the town from the air field to the center Marcelí Domingo (2,9 km ) should be with own vehicles. Getting There The starting point of the visits to the airfield will be the Tourist Office of La Senia, next to City Hall (c / Tortosa, 1). The airfield of the Senia is located in the departure of the plans, about 2.5 km east of town. It is accessed from the road to La Senia - Ulldecona (TV-3319). The starting point of guided tours through the town of La Senia is the tourist office, from where we go to Marcel Center (Paseo de la Clota, n. 23).
