The RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada will debut new routes in 2018

Salou. Costa Dorada. 08 June 2018. A dozen new timed stages, which will pass through the Terra Alta, are the main novelty of the 54th edition of the RallyRACC, which will have one of the two timed events in Salou. Last Thursday the test was presented at the Auditorium of the Provincial Council of Tarragona, entity that promotes the test, along with its Tourist Board, the City Council of Salou and PortAventura World. The car test is the only one in the world that combines dirt and asphalt routes. It will be held between October 25 and 28, and will travel 1,130 kilometers on roads in the province of Tarragona for the fourteenth consecutive year.

Its longest stretch, the old Terra Alta, is now called 'La Fatarella - Vilalba', has a different configuration and incorporates 12 new kilometers. There will be two urban events, the qualifying of Salou and the one of Barcelona, ​​which comes back after last year was not contested. It also highlights that 10 of its 18 special stages are new to this edition.

The different details of the itinerary and its novelties have been presented at an event where the president of the Provincial Council of Tarragona, Josep Poblet; the accidental president of the Tourist Board of the Diputación, Imma Costa; the president of the RACC, Josep Mateu; the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados; the director of the Catalan Council of Sports of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Antoni Reig; the general director of PortAventura World, Fernando Aldecoa, and, the director of the sports area of ​​the RACC, Aman Barfull.

According to data from the study prepared by the Observatory of Tourist Studies of the Costa Dorada, during the last edition of the rally an average occupation of 63.25% was reached on the 77,880 places offered and more than 194,000 overnight stays were generated, derived largely directly from the realization of the sports test. In the 2017 edition, 177,570 people attended the rally, 131,175 of which witnessed more than one stage of the event.
