El Faro de Salou will be open by summer

Salou soon feature a new stretch of Camino de Ronda, specifically the space Salou Lighthouse in Cap Salou. Here, the Port Authority of Tarragona ( APT ) - result of an agreement with the city of Salou- held an intervention that will allow the opening of the lighthouse grounds , creating a public passage for people and thus breaking the passage barriers that exist to date .

From May this unknown place for many will become a new tourist attraction and citizenship . The works currently bidding will start from January and will affect both the lighthouse grounds , street Falconera , as access areas , linking with roads that have been conditioned by a working group in charge of the Department of City Maintenance . The works will be done by APT and are expected to last four months and will be completed around May. The works shall provide a perimeter road around the enclosure about 350 feet long that will follow the topography of the area , thus skirting the cliffs but erecting a security fence. They also incorporate a new viewpoint with a platform above the cliff and also improve the current at the foot of the lighthouse. The estimated investment is about 236,000 euros.

APT President , Josep Andreu, and the Mayor of Salou, Pere Granados , along with other authorities and technicians visited the lighthouse to publicize the details of this important project. The mayor , first thanked the sensitivity shown by the APT and its president at the time of carrying out this investment and for believing in the project Salou. The Mayor recalled : " In these times when the walkway stands alone , for us it means much at this point that there is some work to reactivate it . The way round it is to Salou, as already shown in the first section from Pilons to Resplanells , undeniable attractive and this new section will also be a great boost . "

For his part, President of the Port, Josep Andreu, highlighted the fact that , through this work " it will value the assets of the headlights and for sure many people will visit this great unknown , but being very respectful with the native flora and the environment. "
