Salou. Costa Dorada. 20 November 2020.
The Christmas campaign in Salou this year has a very special connotation because its main objective is to reactivate and boost local commerce, so affected by the pandemic and the consequences it has on a key sector such as tourism. So the City Council of Salou and the Association Shopping Salou Comerciants i Empresaris of the municipality have presented the initiative "Queda't a Salou, Tenim de Tot".

With this slogan, residents of Salou are encouraged to make their purchases in the shops of the municipality and to use the services of the capital of the Costa Dorada. In addition, the campaign wants to highlight that the shops and services of Salou are close, safe, sustainable and supportive.

How are these values translated into the Christmas campaign in Salou?

Solidarity: "Queda't a Salou, Som Solidaris"

The campaign's solidarity challenge is to get a minimum of 1,000 packs with food and hygiene products for the most vulnerable families, which will be delivered to the charities Cáritas Salou, Red Cross and Eluzai.

In order to achieve this, citizens will have physical passports that they can fill in with stamps in the participating establishments, with a stamp for each minimum purchase of 10 euros. You will have to accumulate the tickets, until you reach a total of 12 purchases, and go to the central space of the Municipal Market, where they will provide you, as a gift, the most supportive shopping cart.

In addition, for each passport that the client has and that he has completed, the establishment, through the associations, will make a donation of 2 solidarity packs, at least, to the mentioned non-profit organizations.

Each business will also have its car on display, so that its customers can sponsor it, providing food. The population will also be able to collaborate by making a donation, by contacting the participating establishments, where they will provide all the information.

Closeness and sustainability: "Queda't a Salou, Som Propers i Sostenibles"

It will consist of promoting the establishments and building customer loyalty, through screen-printed promotional materials, with the slogan of the campaign, to promote the values of proximity and sustainability.

It will be done through reusable shopping bags, bags for the bottle of wine in catering establishments, and reels of wrapping paper to make, for example, a Christmas tree with cardboard boxes at the entrance of each store, illuminated with a led garland, and also as a wrapping for the items to give a unified image of the campaign.

Security: "Queda't a Salou, Som Segurs"

Another of the actions is the distribution of masks for the workers of the establishments adhered to the campaign under this slogan, to reinforce the image to the clientele that the shops of Salou comply with the security measures.

Finally, “Queda't a Salou, Tenim de Tot” includes an intense campaign through the Shopping Salou and CompraSalou web platforms, and their respective social networks, with generic publications of the initiative and publications promoting products from the participating establishments .

Christmas decoration

But the Christmas campaign in Salou does not stop here. This year, in addition to the typical lighting decoration, and as a novelty, there will be a more interactive decoration, through non-luminous Christmas figures, of real size. They will be posted throughout the center of Salou, and a gymkhana / contest will be held on Instagram that will invite citizens to discover them.

In addition, a Christmas window contest is being prepared, with 1 first prize, endowed with € 500; 1 second, endowed with € 300; and 3 third prizes, with € 200.

In solidarity with the companies of Salou

During the presentation of the Christmas campaign "Queda't a Salou, Tenim de Tot", the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, stressed that "one of the municipal government's priorities is to find a solution to the social emergency and the needs of vulnerable individuals and families. " And he has also appealed to the Salou citizens to "stay in Salou to do their shopping, in solidarity with the self-employed, the commercial and business fabric of the municipality."

For his part, the Councilor for Economic Dynamization, Héctor Maiquez, explained that "what we want is for the people to be involved and consume in shops and restaurants; and to take advantage of this campaign to help consolidate a habit that goes beyond Christmas ".

For his turn to speak, the president of the Associació Shopping Salou Comerciants i Empresaris, Juli Vilaplana, stated that "any commercial establishment in the city, even if it is not associated, can join this campaign."

The campaign will also have the collaboration of the Associació d’Empresaris d’Hostaleria (AEH) of Salou.
