Salou. Costa Dorada. 15 December 2017.

More than forty acts will be filling the agenda planned by the Town Hall of Salou for the next weeks, when Christmas is coming. The broad Christmas program includes traditional, cultural, festive and playful acts for all ages.

The curtain raised last Thursday with a carolling concert where local schools participated. The act took place in the Teatre Auditori de Salou.

Once again, the councils of Culture and Festivals, Youth, Children, and Economic Promotion transversely organize this program of events for Christmas and the Magi. It includes a wide range of activities and workshops, including the Children's Christmas Park "Espacio Xic'S" in the Salou Centro pavilion. It has the purpose of attracting families and providing fun for children and young people from Wednesday, December 27 until Friday, January 5. The Councilor for Culture and Festivities, Mª José Rodríguez, affirmed: "it is a time of the year where children have to be the protagonists and they must enjoy the magic of Christmas". She highlighted the effort all the councils and entities made to create a program with a wide variety of acts for the whole family.

The Masía Catalana will host on Sunday, December 17, one of the most traditional events: the tasting of the typical Christmas broth. It will be at 11.30 and will include their Christmas greetings. The choirs from all the Municipal Schools of Music will perform at the act. The same day the exhibition of Catalan native birds and livestock will open in the Masía Catalana. It will remain open until January 7, Monday to Friday, from 5 pm to 8 pm, and on Sundays and holidays, from 10: 30 to 13:30 and from 17 to 20 h.  December 27, at night, you can also enjoy the representation of the living nativity scene by the Esplai Group. The act will be repeated on January 1 at 7 pm, again at the Masía Catalana.

 Solidary book sale

On the 25th anniversary of the library, this Saturday begins a list of acts starting by a Christmas Special and a solidary book sale, in collaboration with “La Marató de TV3”. From December 18 to January 13, the contest "LikeBooks: you recommend" will be active. Participants will have to record a video recommending, or not, a book and then share it in social networks of the Library. From December 18 to 22, they will include a gymkhana around some readings related to the Nativity scene.  From December 23 to January 5th they will also play the “invisible friend” where gifts are exchanged. On December 30, you can enjoy the musical concert by Jordi Tonietti to say goodbye to the year with songs for children and dancing; and from the 2nd to the 4th of January the Library will organize its last Christmas act, the Gymkhana of the Kings, with riddles to find the 4th Magician King.

Musical events by the Municipal School of Music of Salou (EMMS) are also included in this long list of acts for December and January. Some examples are: the concert of the big and the small string orchestras and guitar ensembles in the Xavier Turull hall on December 18 at 7:45 p.m.; the concert in the Auditorium Theatre of Salou with the children groups of sensitization I and II, initiation and chorus on December 19 at 5:45 pm; and the concert with the bands, percussion and saxophone groups, also in the TAS, the same day at 19:45. They will also perform in the nursing home with the band and the group of flutes and guitars. On December 20 they will play the Christmas concert with the chamber ensemble and the piano groups in the Turull hall. On the 21st and the 22nd, there will be two sessions of modern music at 6pm in the same hall. In this musical section, the JONC beginners and the Young National Orchestra of Catalonia will be in town again with live music and concerts on 3th and 4th of January.

Christmas acts will end on Friday, January 5th with the traditional arrival of The Three Kings to the Port of Salou at 6pm. There will start their tour around town from the breakwater, through Barcelona Street, Via Augusta, Ciudad de Reus Street, Via Roma and Advocat Gallego Street, to finally arrive to the Town Hall. Finally, gifts will be given at the TAS. To finish we want to remind you that the Christmas exhibition will be in the Torre Vella from Friday the 22nd. There you can visit the dioramas of Esteve Coll and it will remain open until mid-January. Don’t forget that on December 31st you can enjoy the New Year’s Eve Party at 00:30 in the Salou Ponent Pavilion.
