The mayor asks the higher spheres for more funding to improve tourism

Granados participated in the IXI International Tourism Forum

Salou. Costa Dorada. 19 October 2018. Pere Granados, Mayor of Salou, has requested greater involvement of the higher authorities in the modernization of tourist destinations, through increased funding. Granados has participated today in the XIX International Tourism Forum of Benidorm Smart Data 2018 and has participated in the discussion table together with the mayors and councilors of the 8 municipalities that form the Association of Tourist Municipalities (AMT) Salou, Torremolinos, Benidorm, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Arona, Calvià, Adeje and Lloret de Mar- moderated by the president of the Spanish Hotels and Accommodation Confederation (CEHAT) Juan Molas.

Speaking at the colloquium, the mayor said that the AMT "should become a lobby for higher administrations to understand that tourism is an economic activity of general interest because it has a return on the quality of life of citizens. we have a quality city we will have a quality destination. " In this sense, he added that "tourism must also be fully integrated into the activity of society so that it creates wealth and quality within the same locality and for the benefit of the citizen". For all these reasons, the mayor has asked for "a greater commitment of the higher authorities in the renovation and modernization of the destinations with greater financing to match the needs, because tourism must be a reason for State."

The Councilor for Tourism, Benet Presas and the managing director of the Tourism Board, Juan Carlos Capilla also participate in the Benidorm International Tourism Forum. It is a long-standing and relevant meeting for the tourism sector that will deal with issues of Big to Smart Data; artificial intelligence in tourism; the cryptocurrencies and the blockchain. The tourist forum tomorrow will close doors at two in the afternoon with the presence of Raquel Huete, Director General of Tourism.
