The improvement of beach services and the quality are a priority objective in Salou

The hoisting of blue flags, a symbol of beach quality

Salou. Costa Dorada. 30 June 2018. Salou has been identified throughout history for having quality beaches, which are recognized with ISO 14,001 quality control, blue flags and quality Q. These recognitions were externalized to Salouenses with a symbolic act held in the plaza of the Autonomous Communities in which flags were raised on the beaches of the municipality.

At the beginning of the tourist season, the Mayor Pere Granados, together with the Councilor of Beaches, Julia Gomez and the Councilor for Public Health, Martina Fourrier, as well as the Councilor for Tourism, Benet Presas and the Councilor for Citizen Security and Mobility, David González, they have been the ones in charge along with the concessionary companies of services that act in the beach to take the photo of family before the accreditations of quality of the coast. Thus, the blue flags on Levante and Capellans beach have been revalidated in addition to that of the Nautical Club last weekend. They have also raised the Q quality flags for the beaches of Levante and Poniente. Likewise, the ISO 14,001 flag has been awarded to all the beaches of the municipality.

Granados said that "we are in one of the best beaches and services can have a tourist town.We have done a lot of work but we still have to continue working to offer new services and improve those we already have." As for the flags, the mayor said that "means revalidate the quality of the beaches, and continue with the commitment of investment to enhance the main element and greater tourist attraction of the municipality." For its part, Councilor Julia Gómez, said that "we are very satisfied by this hoisted but behind this act there is a lot of work by many councils in favor of quality, the provision of services and respect for the environment."

The flags

The Blue Banners badge is awarded by the Association of Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) and has the collaboration of Puertos de la Generalitat. This certifies that Levante beach has passed the examinations carried out by these organizations based on four criteria: quality of bathing waters, information and environmental education, environmental management and safety, services and facilities.

The Q flag of Quality has also been raised on the beaches of Levante and Poniente, a recognition by the certifying body ICTE (Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality). The main aspects taken into account to achieve this certification are: safety, rescue and first aid, information given to the beach, cleaning and collection of waste, maintenance of facilities and equipment , the accesses, the hygienic services, the services of drinks and food, rent of material and equipment and the management of the own system.

Lastly, the ISO 14.001: 04 flag that flies on all the beaches of the Salou coast has also been hoisted. In relation to the environmental certification of ISO 14.001: 04 it is the eleventh consecutive year that the flag is obtained for all the beaches of the municipality, which is a recognition of the environmental management of the coast of Salouen.
