Costas is committed to streamline the adaptation of the Cami de Ronda

Salou. Costa Dorada. 17 January 2019. The Coastal Territorial Services have committed to speed up the execution of the two final sections of the Cami de Ronda, pending implementation. It is the one between Cala Morista and Mollet del Far, and Punta de Cavall with Cala Crancs. The mayor Pere Granados, accompanied by the councilman of Urbanism, Marc Montagut, have met with the Head of Territorial Services of Coasts, Antoni Espanya, along with other technicians of the Ministry of Environment, to analyze the current status of the project. According to the mayor Pere Granados, the result of the visit has been "very positive because it brings us the willingness and involvement to finally finish the project." Granados also explained that it would be very important to carry out this adaptation, since "it is an important action of recovery and preservation of all the natural heritage of Cap Salou that will be an undeniable benefit for the maintenance of a space of great interest environmental, but also a social benefit, since we implement an added value based on those activities that promote health and enjoyment of the marine environment, and that complement our tourist attractions ".

One of the stretches is the one that links the public park of Cala Morisca with the Mirador del Mollet del Far (end of Cala Crancs street), an area that is currently inaccessible. Currently, people who want to continue the Camino de Ronda through this section must move around the interior of the neighborhood, and with the adaptation of this section will make available to people direct access on the seafront. Therefore, the work to be done will consist in the construction of a footbridge to save the existing wall; as well as take advantage of existing platforms as access areas for the footbridges and / or stepped areas, taking advantage of the natural relief of the rock. The current staircase area is planned to be rebuilt by means of new concrete steps, following the same constructive system of the Camino de Ronda previously carried out. It is also planned to place handrails to protect access. This action has a contract budget of 147,874.55 euros.

The councilman of Urbanism, Marc Montagut, also wanted to emphasize that "the City of Salou has recently recovered the Mirador del Mollet del Far and the park of Cala Morisca, and thanks to this action will allow people to enjoy a direct step that connects both spaces in front of the sea ". Montagut also added that "the Camino de Ronda is a great prestige for the municipality and therefore we want to continue promoting the necessary actions so that the entire route is accessible to pedestrians."

The other section is from the "Cases Blanques" access to "Els triangles" of Cala Crancs, an area that is currently not conditioned for people access and that is a critical point since it is the only barrier that prevents Access from Punta del Cavall to Cala Crancs. Therefore, with the adaptation of this section a pedestrian communication between these two spaces would be achieved. The tasks that are foreseen are the construction of a wall to create and allow the platform of the road layout; later its paving will be carried out, to guarantee the stability of the road platform. The placement of railings to protect access is also contemplated. This second performance has a contract budget of 61,205.19 euros.
