370 students from Salou participate in a popular planted on playa Larga

Students from six schools in Salou have participated in a popular plantation that has been carried out in the area of ​​Larga beach, with the intention of recovering the forest mass of the coast. There have been a total of 370 students of courses between the fourth and sixth grade of primary school, coming from the schools Europe, Salou, Santa Maria del Mar, Elisabeth, Vora Mar and Internacional del Camp. Both the mayor, Pere Granados, as well as María José Rodríguez, councilor for the Environment, and the mayor in charge of Maintenance of the City, María José Rodríguez, attended the day and congratulated the children for their good work.

The area of ​​Environment of the City Council has organized this initiative to recover the damaged part with the wind storms that affected the municipality but especially were more virulent in Larga beach, a natural environment of great scenic value that you want to recover with this action of joint awareness with the primary education centers in the municipality. The City Council has made buses available to schools to pick them up at their centers at 9 a.m. and return them to schools at 2/4 of 1 noon after having conducted an outdoor environmental education class. by the environmental technicians of the City Council and by the students of the upper cycle of the Reus horticulture center, who have also been monitors of the groups when it comes to planting trees.

The Mayor, Pere Granados, has indicated that "it is a plant that aims to sensitize the youngest, so that they know in depth spaces of natural interest of the municipality, as is the case of the Larga beach, and that they give it a added value to nature ". For its part, the Councilor for the Environment, Julia Gómez stressed that "with this day is also intended to repair the damage caused by the gale of halves last October that knocked down many trees and at the same time take advantage of to plant with native vegetation the long beach ".

The planted, in which also collaborates the Department of Maintenance of City, has been done in two levels. On the one hand, the gardening company of the Moix municipality has planted the largest specimens, such as pines or tamarind trees; while the students of the schools have done it with the smaller plants: the bushes (the myrtle, the mastic, the palmito or the sabina), the sub-bushes (the jaguarzo, the evergreens, the crucianel · the maritime ones) or bulbs and grasses (sea lily, baron or sand cane and grass grass), mostly.
