Salou reinforces its mobility operation ahead of the expected influx for the eclipse

Salou Town Council has deployed a special mobility operation for this Wednesday, August 12, coinciding with the total solar eclipse. The coincidence of the astronomical phenomenon with the tourist season and the Nits Daurades celebrations is expected to bring a high influx of people and vehicles to the municipality.

To facilitate travel and prevent possible congestion, the Town Council recommends prioritising public transport, sharing vehicles whenever possible and, above all, planning journeys in advance.

Visitors arriving in Salou by private vehicle are advised to park in designated areas and continue their journey on footto the different viewing points. The municipality has several recommended parking areas with a combined capacity of nearly 2,000 spaces.

The free car parks include:

• Emprius: 320 spaces.
• Carles Roig: around 500 spaces.
• Camí de la Mata: 250 spaces.

The paid blue-zone parking areas at Passeig Jaume I North, with 282 spaces; Passeig Jaume I South, with 261 spaces; and Joan Fuster, opposite Hotel Regina, with capacity for 219 vehicles, are also recommended.

The Town Council is particularly asking drivers not to wait until the minutes before the eclipse to enter the municipality. Visitors are advised to arrive well in advance, park their vehicle and complete the journey on foot.

Likewise, visitors are strongly advised against entering Cap Salou by private vehicle in search of a viewing point, as the area has a limited road network and a high concentration of vehicles could hinder mobility and access for emergency services.

Throughout the day, Salou will have an important police and traffic management operation in place to ensure safety, facilitate mobility and respond to any incidents.

The Town Council reminds everyone to follow the instructions of security and mobility officers at all times and recommends carrying water, avoiding unnecessary journeys by car and planning both arrival and departure from the municipality in advance.
