Salou promotes the renovation of six children's playgrounds

Salou is undertaking one of its most significant transformations in recent years in terms of children's play areas. The City Council will invest nearly €350,000 to renovate six of the municipality's most iconic playgrounds, with a clear objective: to provide higher-quality public spaces designed for children of all ages and abilities.

The project will focus on the playgrounds at Plaça Andalusia, Xalets de Salou, Mirador de Salou, Pla de l'Era, Plaça Louis Braille and Plaça del Carrilet, six popular meeting places for local families and visitors that will now feature renovated, more diverse and, above all, more accessible facilities.

Spaces designed for everyone

The renovation goes far beyond simply replacing old playground equipment with new. It represents a comprehensive commitment to inclusion: existing equipment in good condition will be preserved, damaged elements will be replaced, and new facilities never before seen in the municipality will be added, including zip lines, nest swings, accessible trampolines, inclusive carousels and large multi-play structures designed so that children with reduced mobility can play alongside others on equal terms.

Each playground will have its own identity. At Plaça Andalusia, a third play area will be opened with climbing structures, an inclusive carousel and an adapted spring rider. At the Xalets de Salou playground, a large ship-shaped structure will stand out, accompanied by a zip line and accessible trampolines, while at the Mirador de Salou, a multi-play structure and a double spring rider will be added.

Pla de l'Era will feature a new bee-themed play area, including a double slide connecting the park's two levels in a fun and playful way, while Plaça Louis Braille will add a combined play structure and new double swings.

Carrilet, the jewel of the renovation

One of the highlights of the project is Carrilet Park, Salou's most popular playground, where the iconic children's train will undergo a complete restoration. Damaged parts will be repaired and its appearance enhanced to make it resemble even more closely the real train from which it takes its name. Meanwhile, the existing rubber spheres will make way for a symbolic play area for the youngest children.

A municipality committed to its public spaces

This project forms part of a broader City Council strategy to improve the quality of Salou's public spaces, which already included the complete renovation of the playground at Plaça Francesc Macià in 2023 and the refurbishment of the workout areas at Llevant and Ponent beaches.

With this new investment, Salou is consolidating a more modern, diverse and inclusive network of playgrounds, reaffirming its commitment to family tourism by offering high-quality spaces where families can enjoy time together, whether they live in the municipality or are simply visiting.
