Golf Reus Aigüesverds pioneer in the use of reclaimed water, is preparing to celebrate 20 years

Coinciding with the commemoration of World Environment Day, the Club de Golf Reus Aigüesverds took stock, this past June 5, the result of three years after the launch of a pioneering system of irrigation to exploiting Wastewater from the plant in Reus, which, once treated, is earmarked for the irrigation of the golf course.

This system, which is a pioneer in the Tarragona, yielded very positive results as the field is irrigated with 98% reclaimed water. The introduction of this system led to an investment club of 1,3 million.
Jordi Escolà, adviser to the Club de Golf Reus Aigüesverds in environmental matters, explained that since the launch of this system, which is subject to regular and comprehensive, has not detected any anomaly in either the quality of your lawn or in the vegetation surrounding it or the birds and animals that normally live in the countryside.

For his part, Miguel Agustin, president of Club de Golf Reus Aigüesverds, stressed that despite the image they have of the golf courses as major consumers of water, in Catalonia, the 42 existing fields consume only 0.28 % of total water consumption and that of this amount, half come from reclaimed water.

20 years
With an area of 40 hectares, the Club de Golf Reus Aigüesverds, this year in late July, will celebrate its twentieth anniversary, has 18 holes, a training camp and a pitch & putt.

The club, with about 700 members, is open to anyone practicing golf or who want to get started in this sport. Situated on a equidistant between Reus, Cambrils and Salou, the club also has a golf school children, swimming pool, nursery and tennis and paddle.
