Salou inaugurates a monument in recognition of the 1,874 promoters of Segregation

Salou inaugurates on October 30th, big day of the festival , the remodeling of the Plaça de la Segregació  where a monument in recognition of the signers of the deed with that endorsed the commencement of the March 29 1980 will stand. " It is a duty we have to the citizens' If anything had gone wrong, every one of them had done in solidarity with their assets to meet the costs of the judicial process ," said the mayor , Pere Granados .

This monument in recognition to  Salou Lluire will be installed in the Plaça de la Segregació and which will rise to 34 steel columns that include the registration of each and every one of the signatories : 1,874 people. This represents about 45 % of adult citizens who were in the town at that time. On top of the columns are lights mounted so that from a given point the word Salou can be read. Also in the square will be planted a tree with a special symbolism , it is a Ginkgo biloba, a species that , apart from the unique medicinal properties , is considered one of the oldest trees in the world and have a long life , up to a thousand years. A clear reference to the hope for the future and growth of the municipality . It will also have installed a bench and water fountain in the monument that is before school  Europa and the sports hall , and in the final stretch of the walk October 30 .

The mayor also wanted to highlight the good relations that currently have with the entity of October 30. " I want to thank all the work done over the years and especially emphasize that we share the advocacy of Salou" .

More than 40 acts
The program of the Festival of Salou , will provide more than 25 acts, which reach 40 if you add the rest of the for activities before and after these dates . The Councillor for Culture , Maria Jose Rodriguez , said : "This is a very heartfelt holiday with lots of participation of entities" . The proclamation by the former Minister of Interior of the Government (1988-1992) , Josep Gomis ( Thursday 24 ) in the plenary hall , marks the beginning of the holidays, which also include acts such as the first meeting of dance with canes ( Saturday 19 ) the XII delivering of the October 30 awards to child and youth creativity ( Wednesday 23 ), the presentation of the new wardrobe of the morena of Salou and carretillada ( Friday 25 ) , and the celebration of the 25 years creation of the grallers la Tarota ( Sunday 3rd ), among many others.

The big day on Wednesday, October 30 , as the councilor said , matches various activities for everyone , which highlights precisely the institutional act of recognition of the promoters of segregation (12.30 h at the Plaça de la Segregació) in addition to the popular vermouth in the same square , followed by the popular pan with performances by several groups and eventually dancing with the orchestra. Previously, on Sunday 27 , will add a set of popular events including the sixth festival tour , the sixth hike and sixth festival popular pedaling with the final encounter in the Plaça de la Pau.
